The 2024 Reno Jazz Festival presents the groundbreaking ensemble, GEORGE; the moniker derived from the Greek word georgos meaning “farmer" and "earthworker.” As heard on their 2023 debut recording, "Letters to George," the members work in tandem to excavate and create intense and intriguing music, the sound of which defies categories and labels.
The Reno Phil Chorus joins the orchestra for the rousing season finale. Audiences will be delighted by the powerful sound of Poulenc’s Gloria, mixing musical styles with a dizzying, kaleidoscopic effect. The 55th season will close with one of Mahler’s most magnificent works, his Symphony No. 5. In this wonderfully unique show, filled with audience participation, juggling, and music, King Izzi dazzles, delights, and inspires children of all ages as they learn about toys, games, and stories known and loved by all children in the legendary country of “Hotdogstan.”
