Everyone knows that the Reno Riverwalk is one of the best places in our city to go for food, drink, fun and entertainment. But did you also know that it has a lot to offer those seeking to engage in physical fitness, a healthy lifestyle, and to take in some exercise alone or with friends?
It’s right there in the name of our excellent Riverwalk District – it is the perfect place to go for a walk. It is one of the most walkable spaces in our city, and you can choose your own adventure when it comes to walking the Riverwalk. If you want to shop, there’s shopping galore. If you are hungry, you can walk to and explore some of the best food and dining options Reno offers. And if you are looking for activities and events, the Reno Riverwalk has that covered too!
Other ways to get that body moving in the Riverwalk District include bowling at the Arch or playing a game or two of Bocce Ball at Bundox Bocce, located in the Renaissance Hotel. Bowling and Bocce Ball are fabulous, unique, and fun ways to play games with family and friends, and they do count as physical activity – even exercise! But of course, both spaces offer fantastic food and drink to go along with the team fun!
The Riverwalk District is on the Truckee River and home to Whitewater Park for those seeking some traditional outside adventure. Many people enjoy playing in the water on rafts or canoes, and you can rent some great equipment or take in a tour or class with Sierra Adventures. Whitewater Park also offers spots to fish.
Want to combine physical fitness with a few drinks? Check out Reno Axe, a great place to socialize, have a date night, and check out the latest trend – throwing a few axes while having a few drinks! If you are looking for a night out with the girls or a date night, dancing is fitness, and the Riverwalk District offers some great nightlife like Five Star Saloon and Faces NV Reno.
Of course, part of taking care of our bodies includes eating healthy. The Reno Riverwalk has a lot of great spots to enjoy healthy and wholesome food. Enjoy seasonal flavors with a salad or the famous Chipotle Salmon at Wild River Grille or an amazing fresh BC Veggie Salad at the Brewer’s Cabinet. The Old Granite Street Eatery is another popular restaurant in our Riverwalk District that offers healthy and delicious menu options and special treats!
When you head over to the Reno Riverwalk District, you truly can shape and pioneer your own trail. If you want to be more physical with your day on the river, the above options are great ways to do this. If you’re going to combine your physical activity with a bit of exploration and shopping, by all means, this is a fantastic way to explore the Riverwalk District too. Walking to shopping, eating, playing a game of Bocce Ball, or checking out the action in Whitewater Park are all beautiful ways to get in some self-care and exercise while enjoying some of the best shops and restaurants our city has to offer.
