There’s tons of fun to be had this summer on the Truckee River. Whether you’re looking for family events, or just looking for a night (or morning) out on the town, look no further than the Riverwalk.

A Weekend of Festivities

From June 7th-9th at Wingfield Park, enjoy a weekend of fun with just one pass at the Reno River Festival. Enjoy live performances from acts like Canaan Smith and The Ataris. Kids and teens will love the adventure park, featuring inflatable structures and human hamster balls. Enjoy street eats, vendors, a rafting tour, cornhole championships, and more. Ages 17 and under get in free. A portion of entry fees support Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful.

Free Music? Yes Please!

Starting June 13th, and repeating the second Thursday of each month until September, the Harmony on the River event is a great option for an evening out. Taking place from 6-8 pm at the West Street Plaza, enjoy local food trucks, craft cocktails, mocktails, and beer from the Sierra Tap House beer garden, and a free performance from the Reno Philharmonic. All ages are welcome. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for seating.

Up Close and Personal

Tired of just looking at the river? Wish you could tackle the waters head-on? Sierra Adventures has you covered with a variety of water-based adventures to scratch any thrill-seeking or fish-catching itch. Take a guided tour of the Truckee River on a raft, a kayak, or an inner tube. Anglers may want to embark on a fishing trip and tackle the river’s bounty. For those looking to ride the currents, an unguided river float is also available. Learn more about these experiences on the Sierra Adventures website.

Dinner by the River

Looking for riverside dining experiences for dates, anniversaries, or just a night out to treat yourself? The Riverwalk District has you covered. Located in the historic Riverside Hotel building, the family-owned Wild River Grille features a wide selection of locally sourced produce, exquisite seafood, and an exceptional happy hour. Vegan and gluten-free options are available. You can also visit The Shore, located at the Renaissance Hotel, for fine riverside dining from Reno chef Sean Munshaw. Enjoy worldly flavors on their outdoor patio overlooking the Truckee River, or savor a glass of wine in the bar.,

Feeling Thirsty?

You have options if you’re looking for a drink on the river. The Sierra Tap House will be introducing Scottish-born brewery BrewDog beverages as part of June’s Tap Takeover. Take an opportunity to try something different, you might find a new favorite. Come by on Mondays for an all-day happy hour. If you want to watch sports or flex your intellectual muscles, consider stopping by Ole Bridge Pub. Enjoy local brews, top-shelf whiskeys, and a trivia night hosted every Wednesday from 7-9 pm.,

Wild Walks and Crawls

Sometimes enjoying the river from just one place isn’t enough. Explore the Riverwalk District on any of the bar crawls happening this June. Saddle up and grab a glass for the Western Wine Walk on June 15th. Purchase your ticket online or at any of the starting locations on the event website. Travel between the Brewer’s Cabinet, the Sierra Tap House, Shim’s, and the Ole Bridge Pub for Brunch Crawls every Saturday and Sunday and Wookie Walks every Wednesday from 11 am-2 pm. Enjoy special deals on drinks and enter to win prizes. Ask for a map at any participating location.
